Matthew16:15 - "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Good question. Who do you say Jesus is?

GCC Daylights Now Available
Links to Great Commission Churches' "Daylights" are now available in the right sidebar area of this blog. For years the "daylights" have been a daily devotional that people use to connect with God.
Being the Church
What I appreciate from our reading for today (Ephesians 2:19-22) is that the church is not designed to be an environment of isolation. Rather the church is designed to be a community of Jesus-followers who work together to build God's kingdom. The language of the New Testament is not about "me and mine" but rather "we and ours" as it relates to God. The language of the New Testament is "plural" not "singular" - a church of one is not an option.
I mean, just look at the plurality as Paul talks about the church. But at the same time each of us has our role to play in the midst of "being the church." The challenge, at least for me, is figuring out how I can step into the individual role God has for me to play within the plurality of the church. How can I, as an individual, be a part of what God is doing through the church as a whole?

Simple Devotion
Acts 2:42 - They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
It seems so simple but it seems that devotion is never simple - at least for me. The problem is that my devotion can be so scattered. One day I can be devoted to one thing and the next day it's another - maybe neither of which is really all that worth my devotion in the first place.
So my questions to myself this morning we as follows:

So my questions to myself this morning we as follows:
- Am I devoted to the things that really matter to God?
- Am I devoted to His Word?
- Am I devoted to other followers of Jesus Christ?
- Am I devoted to prayer?
- Am I devoted to remembering what Christ did for me?

A Misunderstanding
What spoke to me from our daily reading was Acts 4:2 - They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.
Why is it we can be troubled and disturbed when we don't understand what God is doing around us? God can be at work in our midst and yet we can mistake it for something else simply because we don't understand it.
May prayer for myself and for us today is that we would recognize wherever God is at work and we would join Him.

The Think It Through for this week can be found here.
Remember to think about making a relational investment in God's kingdom. Find someone that God has put into your circle of influence that you can reach out to.

Movie Night
Just a quick reminder - don't forget that tonight is movie night here at OneLife Center. The show starts at 7pm.
Prayer Points
Recently, I have thinking a lot about prayer and the the tremendous power reserve that we have at our disposal. It's like oil reserves that are deep in the ground that haven't been tapped into yet and so the value of the oil hasn't yet been realized until it has been tapped into. And so I wonder how much of our prayer potential has not been tapped into yet. I know for myself the untapped potential of prayer is huge and is something that I can "step into" more and more.
We just got done as leaders praying as we do each Thursday morning. It is honestly one of the highlights of my week. By Thursday morning I'm usually pretty tired and beat-up from the week but Thursday morning prayer is that impetus that recovers some of the momentum that I've lost in the first first part of the week.

3 quick thoughts on prayer:
- Pray boldy. God wants us to approach Him with confidence! (Hebrews 4:16)
- Pray often. God desires a relationship with us. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
- Pray in faith. He is able and willing. (Mark 11:24-26)
