A good question to ponder as 2009 draws to a close is: How will I engage with God in the coming year? As I have been thinking about that question for myself in the past several weeks I have come to the conclusion that I will go through the Bible again. But each year I try to change it up a little. In previous years, I have read different translations and used different reading plans. In 2010, I have decided I will again use the English Standard Version (ESV) translation but with a twist.
Romans 10:17 says: So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. And so this year I am committed to not only reading God's Word but also listening to it. A couple of months ago I ran across a great web site that has the Bible in printed form online but in addition also has a narrative version that you can also listen to it at the same time. The narrator is very good in my opinion.
And so in an effort to help be more faithful, each day a blog post will be published at http://svcconeyearbible.blogspot.com which will have the Bible reading for the day posted. And from each daily post you can click to either the ESV site or to BibleGateway (you can also listen online there but you will need Real Audio installed).
Check it out and join in.
