To Live Rightly

In our reading for today (1 John 2:28-29), I was personally challenged to live "rightly" until the day that Jesus returns. As I read these verses, I had these thoughts:

I don't know when Christ is going to return and it really doesn't matter because God's direction to me is the same no metter when He returns. His expectation of me as His child is to live rightly - to be righteous. To live righteously means (in just my own thoughts this morning) to know God and His heart, to align my heart with His to the extent that I can comprehend God's heart and to obey Him to the best of my ability in ALL aspects of life. That is a tall order and yet all things are possible with God. And, yes, I will mess up and I will sin and yet, by God's grace, He stills sees me as righteous - simply amazing. That's the beauty of being redeemed!

Matthew 6:33 (ESV) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Today, I am to be a seeker of God's righteousness.
