  1. So sorry this is late but I am still working through last weeks verses.

    Colossians 3:12-14
First, because we are chosen by God and we are holy and dearly loved we can, because we have been freed, put on God's clothes each day. He asks us to wear compassion for others and the circumstances they are facing. He wants us to be kind not just when others are kind to us but especially when they aren't, because it probably means they are hurting. He asks us to be humble toward others, not acting all-knowing, but praying for another's situation and our own because we need wisdom because we really don't know what is best for others and ourselves. Humility also means serving others by dieing to our wants - putting another person in front of ourselves. The clothing of gentleness and patience breeds trust and it communicates that we care about the other person. We all need gentleness and patience, it's what draws us out of our comfort zone enabling us to share with someone else our deepest hurts, dreams and hopes. It communicates that we are not judging the other person. It makes us act more sincerely toward others.
If, in all these "clothes" I am able to die to myself, because wearing them will make me more like God then I am able to bear another's weakness and forgive them when they hurt me or others because I don't see myself as all that improtant. I begin to see the other person as more important than myself. My objective becomes lifting up and encouraging rather than judging and exalting myself.
The Lord has overlooked so many faults in me and forgiven me for so much, who am I that I would ever hold anything in the unforgiveness column when all my sins and shortcomings have been forgiven. I am left with ONLY one choice - forgiveness - God allows for nothing less. There's no opting out on this one if we call ourselves children of God.
Well, after all is said and done and I am dressed properly for the day I put on my final piece of clothing - LOVE - it's like a beautiful wrap that binds every other article of clothing together and makes my outfit complete. Everything - compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and forgiveness seem to work best and can be unified in me when my motive is LOVE - His perfect love. So now I'm ready for the day and off I go.
