God's Heart and Plan

As I was reading today's scripture reading (2 Peter 3:8-13) from the Think It Through for this week, I was struck by God's Heart and His Plan.

God's Heart: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

God's Plan: But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

I can be so impatient when it comes to wanting things to change, but not God. He is patient with us because He doesn't want to be separated from any person that He has ever created. NOBODY! God knows what's coming. There will be a new heaven and a new earth and His heart is that His people (those He has created - all of us) would join Him there in eternal relationship. And thankfully He has worked out all of the details - Jesus!
