Sheep on a Mission

In our reading for today, John 10:7-10, I was reminded of another verse in the Old Testament, Isaiah 53:6 -

Isaiah 53:6 (NIV)
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

We are sheep, but we are sheep on a mission. We are sheep with a purpose. We are redeemed sheep. We are sheep that are cared for by the Shepherd. We "come in" for encouragement and training and protection and to just be together but we also "go out" through the gate to do God's work. We go out in the field where it's dangerous - you just never know where the next wolf is.

I like to think of the weekend and Fellowship Teams as a time when we "come in" and the rest of the week we "go out" for the purpose of doing God's will.

Let's be sheep on a mission - together!
