In our reading for today, John 16:22-24, I was reminded that God so desires to restore my soul. He wants me to come to Him and ask for restoration - restoration that will bring complete and abundant joy to my soul - and to ask in the name of Jesus Christ.
But how often is it that I look for restoration elsewhere - to things like the pleasures of the world for my restoration? To things like vacations or material things or work or hobbies or watching TV or even sleep. While those things are not bad or "wicked", there is only "incomplete joy" in them as opposed to "complete joy" that can only come from God in the name of Jesus.
God give me the courage today to seek for complete joy only in You.
Let's take some time time today to focus on God as our shepherd by meditating on Psalm 23:1-3a: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul."
