Proverbs 30 & 31

Post a comment to share what God gave you from today's reading.

  1. Proverbs 30:5-6 (MSG)
The believer replied, "Every promise of God proves true; he protects everyone who runs to him for help. So don't second-guess him; he might take you to task and show up your lies."

I like how the Message translation renders Proverbs 30:5-6. We can trust God's Word and the promises He gives to us. I have no need to second-guess His Word.

  2. Give me enough food to live on, neither too much nor too little. If I'm too full, I might get independent, saying, 'God? Who needs him?' If I'm poor, I might steal and dishonor the name of my God."
    - Proverbs 20:8-9 (MSG)

I've found that it's easy to get in this mindset:

When I have little: Blame God.
When I have much: Praise myself.

Both of these are wrong; I must be constantly reminded by God that He is in control and knows exactly what is right for me.

  3. Drew, I can totally resonate with what you are saying here. It is so difficult for me to simply be content with God's provision and to trust that whether I have a little or a lot it is actually just right for me from God's perspective.
