Then, Now, and Forever

I love Matthew 5:17-30 (our reading for today), because it ties Jesus so clearly and plainly to the Old Testament. Which, for me, means that the Old Testament is still relevant to us as we follow Jesus. Whenever Jesus reaches back into the Old Testament, I can "hear" God saying, 'Don't forget what I have always been about and will continue to be about.'

True, we are under the new covenant of grace that Jesus initiated, but that doesn't mean that the Old Testament is no longer relevant to us. It's relevant because it encapsulates the essence of who God is and what is important to Him.

God has always been, is today and will always be. May we be ones that are thirsty for God and are willing to dig deep into His Word to find His relevancy to our lives.

  1. I just wanted to share how God is really timeless and no matter what happens He's always good and He's always God. In my walk one of the more significant trials that has shaped me is when my son was having brain surgery in Denver. He was in pretty bad shape and his condition was quite serious. To get to the point where you can put your child in God's hands and no matter what happens, He's still good and He's still God, that was a journey. That one part of my life caused me to reevaluate many things about my faith...how much do I trust God? what if my son dies, what will I think of God? There were many more questions. I came out of that situation stronger than I have ever been. God is timeless, He always will be the same....Then, Now and Forever.
